Commentary on driving collision detection
Hey, stranger! We are happy you can pause here for a while. In the era of machine and computing intelligence, it seems easier to capture underlying common paradigms about the world, society, and human beings through data modeling and analysis techniques. These captured common paradigms are gradually considered as the key for artificial intelligence (AI)-related industries to provide novel services for us. It should be noted that though our society is trying to argue for human-centric AI, the products and solutions offered to us by modern industry are mainly AI-centered instead of human-centered. Human-centeredness is a tough thing. Human-centeredness means differentiated personal experiences should be considered when the individual interacts with services. The objective evidence from plenty of previous studies has told us the vast difference in psychological activity, cognitive process, and behavioral decision-making among human beings as an individual. The current vigorous research on AGI, AI4S, and fundamental models for vertical industries does not seem to aim to solve this problem, even the opposite...
For us, describing PIS Lab in one or two paragraphs is difficult. But it doesn't matter. In summary, PIS LAB is dedicated to studying individuals in complex social systems and exploring models and their methodologies for personal informatics & systems from the informatics perspective. We hope our research could solve the long tail problem that fundamental models cannot handle, and provide technical support and managerial insights for human-centered design and innovation.
